Overview and Scope for Fire Station Accommodation
As student accommodation furniture manufacturers, Cubix was recently commissioned to manufacture and install contract bedroom furniture for the firefighter’s accommodation at the new state-of-the-art Ramsgate Fire Station.
The new purpose-built fire station accommodation was officially opened to become the home to whole-time crews and 22 on-call firefighters which combined provide a high-quality emergency response service for the area. The site also provides a training facility for the local firefighting team.
This new two-story facility is also the base for The British Red Cross and provides space for other agencies such as the police and ambulance service.
Cubix was selected as the successful bidder for the supply of the following an extensive tender exercise by Morgan Sindall Construction who were appointed as the principal contractor for the build.
Design and Manufacture
The Cubix design team worked closely with the project architect and Morgan Sindall throughout the process and everything was successfully manufactured and installed in good time before the official opening of the facility by the Chairman of the Kent and Medway Fire and Rescue Authority.
The bedroom casegoods were manufactured using a pale natural Oak veneer and consisted of a cabin bed with a wraparound headboard/wall panel, a single wardrobe, and a bedside unit with drawers for each firefighter’s room.
Perfect Project Delivery
Compared to so many of Cubix’s projects, this design and installation was very straightforward. Nonetheless, upon completion, the team at Cubix were delighted to receive a written commendation and certificate from the Project Manager at Morgan Sindall in recognition of a faultless service level from design through to installation.
